Art for the Fun of It: A Guide for Teaching Young Children
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall Trade (October, 1980)
Author: Peggy Davison Jenkins
Average review score:

A good tool for beginning art teachers
As a beginning art educator I found this book to be extremely useful. It contains many tips for art room materials and practices that could only be learned through years of experience. Not only does Peggy Davison cover the very practical side of art education but also she explains many of the latest philosophies and strategies used in this area without the book becoming tedious reading. Any art educator, regular classroom teacher, or home-schooling parent would be wise to read this book if they are serious about the quality and efficiency of their art program. It is an easy and interesting read and one that will be referred to many times for information. This is a book I will keep handy in my classroom.

Exploring Abnormal Psychology
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (23 August, 1995)
Authors: John M. Neale, Gerald C. Davison, and David A. F. Haaga
Average review score:

Useful, but imperfect
This book is a useful guide for university students with a special interest in abnormal psychology. It contains many useful references and I found the bibliography very easy to use. The content of the book is easy to absorb, clearly written, if a bit perfunctuary in detail. A useful book to have as a back up to a main text, but not sufficiant on it's own.
Neale is a competent writer and his books are used by most universities with a course in abnormal psychology, but this is not one of the best. Better is his co-ordinated effort with Davison called simply Abnormal psychology.
Worth a read, some parts are extremely interesting and thought provoking.

Immigrant American Women Role Models: Fifteen Inspiring Biographies, 1850-1950
Published in Hardcover by McFarland & Company (October, 1997)
Author: Moira Davison Reynolds
Average review score:

short bios of interesting women
The author selected women who were brave and self-actualizing in an era when the barriers to that were high. The time span, 1850-1950, covers a vast revolution in all facets of society and in the status of women in particular. Each biography is several pages long, and most include a picture of the woman described. The writing is clear and should be readable for high-school students up, possibly for bright junior-high. The tone is level; the author appreciates these women but lets each story stand on its own. This is not a hagiography or a feminist tract in any way, but simply history well-told.

John D. Rockefeller
Published in Hardcover by Scribner (June, 1959)
Author: Allan, Nevins
Average review score:

Great Historical guideline for one of the greatest entrepene
Great historical background on one of the greatest business men of our time. The book had some rough edges and at certain points a little hard to understand. Mr. Allan Nevins did a great job of writing a detailed account of what when on in Mr. Rockefeller's life.

Man-shy : a story of men and cattle
Published in Unknown Binding by Angus and Robertson ()
Author: Frank Dalby Davison
Average review score:

An excellent book with a new point of view.
"Man-shy" by F.D.Davison is the story of a cow, her birth, her clever escape from a ranch, and the rest of her life. The book is sensitively written from the cow's point of view and the plotline is complex enough to keep the reader riveted while not so convoluted as to force multiple readings. "Man-shy" is a great book.

Interesting, Professional look at Standard Oil Tycoon
At a price of over $1,000, I had expected a very interesting look at one of my faviorite industrialist genuises. J.D. Rockefeller Sr. is one of the most interesting Captians of Industry both personally and professionally I have seen in my life. These published papers of his were a deeper insight into his mind and how it worked. This most fascinating man had class, style, intelligence, and logic. I can tell by these papers that he is not only consevative but also not, contratry to popular belief, an ultra malterialist. He beleived he needed to surround himself with such riches and luxuries to "meet the social image of a man of my stature". These papers are a must for any "fan" of John D. Rockefeller Sr., founder of the Standard Oil Trust and richest, in most all respectes, man of his time.

The Waldensian Dissent : Persecution and Survival, c.1170-c.1570
Published in Paperback by Cambridge University Press (October, 1999)
Authors: Gabriel Audisio and Claire Davison
Average review score:

a comprehensive guide
If you're interested in Medieval Heresy, you've probably noticed that a good book on the Waldensian dissent is hard to find. Audisio's book is excellent if you want to fill in the gap. It's very well organised and user-friendly. It offers a comprehensive explanation of the movement's history and doctrine. Don't expect an astonishing critical insight, but as a textbook this is everything you could wish for.

Lotus Notes and Domino 4.5: Professional Reference
Published in Hardcover by New Riders Publishing (May, 1997)
Authors: Jay Forlini, Bill Maxwell, Randy Davison, Bill Drake, Chuck Griffin, Mark Lawrence, David Sanders, Wayne Whitaker, and New Riders Publishing Group
Average review score:

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!
It is the most shallow coverage of Notes that I've ever seen. I still don't understand how they managed to pack so little information into so many pages.

For example, a new feature of 4.5 is Multidatabase indexing through a site search database. Here is the unabridged exerpt from this "reference" on site search:

"The Multi Databse Indexing feature enables you to create many indices at once. After these indices exist, it is possible to search more than one database at a time for data (such as a client's name or company name). This feature can be extremely helpfull when designing a Web page. As shown in figure 8.21, you must be a manager of the file to enable this option."

That's it. That pathetic, inane, useless, and technically incaccurate blurb is all the info this book provides on site search. They don't even know what a site search database is (its the tool used to actually build a multidatabase index). And the worst part is that the whole book is like this. Uhh... I don't know exactly what this is but uhh.... here's the property box for it and uhh... you can click boxes and stuff on it. And uhh.. oh, yeah, you have to have sufficient access to do that.

Avoid this one like the plague. New Riders Publishing should really be ashamed of themselves.

Never have some many words been used to say so little
This book is less than useless, I had more questions than answars after reading it. The book is terribly shallow and never goes into any depth.

Great book ..
Read some reviews here.

Some folks feel it is not a good book, so I went to a local bookstore and spent an hour leafing ... for the 2nd time. For my project [ where there were some challenges, this book came closest to giving me script pointers, though not solutions]

I beleive this book is by far the best I have seen for Notes/Domino 4.x and would be happy if they released one for R 5.0 - same manner....

Great book in my personal opinion..and stands out in the Notes/Domino arena.
